Hi, I'm Ruth

I'm a therapeutic counsellor, wife and mam to two adult children. Family life has been one of my greatest blessings and also one of my biggest learning spaces, giving me a real appreciation of relationships, family dynamics and the challenges life can bring.

Away from counselling, I love creativity, crafts, walking in nature, cold-water dipping, films, singing and music. I'm passionate about wellbeing and positive psychology, and fascinated by the small things we can do to support ourselves and bring more happiness into everyday life.

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent more than 25 years as a secondary school teacher, including supporting staff wellbeing and mental health. But my journey towards counselling actually began much earlier.

Around twenty years ago, I was the person sitting in the client's chair.

I sought counselling while experiencing anxiety, burnout and depression. Having a safe space to talk, reflect and better understand myself had a lasting impact on me and, over time, inspired me to train as a therapeutic counsellor.

Today, I work privately with adults, offering a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space to explore whatever has brought you to counselling. I won't tell you how to live your life or pretend to have all the answers. Instead, we can work together to help you understand yourself, your experiences and what you need moving forward.

Sometimes finding our way forward begins with giving ourselves the space to reflect. I'd be honoured to share that space with you.
